"weather-drew" (noun):
A nickname used by a systems administrator, web developer and network engineer living in Oklahoma, working in the weather industry. He does not make donuts.
Many of us run into quite a great deal of confusion when we try to "help" our Windows boxes perform better. Sometimes, we install third party add-ons or go tinker with the registry.
These "tweaks" usually end badly, and this is due to a very simple law:
"The only people who can make Windows run better are the people that wrote it."
Third party software which claim to be a "doctor" for your PC will do anything but hand you a clean bill of health. These programs alter settings and change files - usually resulting in a loss of performance and sometimes OS death.

Of course, ask a Mac Admin how you can speed up your computer and he'll likely say, "Buy a Mac".
