New Friends, Old Friends

It's been an interesting past few days. New friends have come to visit, while old friends have surfaced after being all but missing for nearly 3 years.

My new friends, made while I stayed in Italy have come back to Storm Chase and explore the United States. Some are meteorologists, some are photographers. One thing remains consistent however - they are some of the most fun loving and wonderful people I've met in many years. There is much to be said about culture differentials, and this is no different.

While new friends drive up and down the Central Plains in search of tornadoes and a better understanding of our atmosphere, an old friend has suddenly come back into my life. Scott Cheuvront emailed me today after I assumed he had packed up and moved to another country. I spent a bit of time talking with him and catching up on his life, which as it turns out... didn't really turn out as we all expected. Scott is alive, doing quite well and planning a family. Still a resident in Tennessee, he's working in what most of us would consider a rather peculiar occupation - as a commodities broker.

Seems as friends, everyone's come a long way.
